The Boat

A Hull Shape Built for Sea-Going Work

Stephen first drew the Seahull in aluminium, then moved it into moulded polyethylene. Every part of the shape was drawn for performance at sea.

Asymmetric Twin Hulls

Two deep-vee, well-chined hulls with a tunnel between them and a centre skeg that protects the outboard from debris.

One-Piece Double Skin

Roto-moulded in one piece, 6 to 8 mm thick and UV resistant. Water and chemicals don’t harm it.

Fishing Ready

Four rod holders at the bow and stern, plus grab handles on both sides of the stern.

Self-Draining Cockpit

A 1.5 m by 3.0 m central deck. Water runs out through the corner scuppers.

Foam Fill or Storage

The double skin can be foam filled for commercial survey, or fitted with storage hatches.

Light to Tow

200 kg bare and about 450 kg on its trailer. The trailer is part of the package.

About Seahull

Ten Years on Paper. Fourteen on the Water.

Stephen Snedden spent ten years designing the Seahull on paper before the first hull was built, fourteen years ago.

He made the design and the moulds by hand, himself. The hulls are full of folded, stitched sections that run into compound curves, and every seam of the moulds was stitched, welded, faired and panel-beaten smooth.

Stephen trained as a fitter and turner, won the 1989 National Youth Skills Olympics in constructional steel and represented New Zealand in Birmingham. He built aluminium boats before moving the Seahull into moulded plastic.

“Seahull is just such a story, and we’ll be hearing a lot more from them soon.” Trade-A-Boat
